GEOPOLITICS: Trump reiterates claim that China may have spread Coronavirus DELIBERATELY – Analysis.
At an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal published yesterday [Thursday, 18th June 2020] by reporter Michael C. Bender, US President Donald Trump has claimed that China might have spread coronavirus on purpose with the single aim of crippling the US economy in a tit-for-tat move over Trump´s sustained “tarrif-war” against it and the fact that they were jealous of the performance of the US economy under his stewardship. If that were anywhere near true it would be pretty draconian to say the very least.
In recent months, Trump has alleged that China released COVID-19 from a lab maybe by accident, saying “It’s a terrible thing that happened,” he said in April. “Whether they made a mistake or whether it started off as a mistake and then they made another one, or did somebody do something on purpose.”
Although the US President has always claimed he’s seen evidence to support that theory, his remarks back in April came at the same time as the Office of the Director of National Intelligence announcing that the novel coronavirus was “not man-made or genetically modified.”
However the President seized the opportunity of the interview with the Wall Street Journal to escalate his accusation to suggest that China may have purposely allowed the coronavirus to spread as a way to damage the economies of other nations without it appears any new intelligence to support the theory. Of course Wuhan in China, was the epicentre of the global pandemic.
“There is a very good chance it was incompetence. There was a very good chance it was a mistake. And there’s a chance that it was intentional,” Trump said about how the virus spread, according to a transcript of the interview.
The President added that China may have wanted to extend its own economic fallout from the virus to competing nations, telling the Journal: “They’re saying, Man, we’re in a mess. The United States is killing us. Don’t forget, my economy during the last year and a half was blowing them away. And the reason is the tariffs.” He added, “It’s my sense that could have happened. I hope not. And I hope we’ll be able to find it out.”
Of course China has issued a stock rebuttal denying that it concealed any information about the spread of the novel coronavirus. Trump said in the interview that he had no evidence of such a scheme, saying, “I don’t think they would do that…. But you never know. But it has had an impact.”
There a lot of vagaries in there I know, but to me that’s Trump all over; he makes a statement without ever stating a single fact – Unbelievable! [IF] I have gathering data and researching a number of leads to fins a shred of evidence that China deliberately release the virus. At the end of the day if they did they really shot themselves in the foot!
