Following hard on the heels of NATOs announcement that Ukraine´s membership to the Defence alliance is not going to be imminent, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is scheduled to meet NATO Chiefs on the second day of their summit in Vilnius for the inaugural session of the NATO-Ukraine Council established to upgrade relations between Kyiv and the 31 Member transnational military alliance.
Zelenskiy is also scheduled to meet individually with current US President Joe Biden to plead his case for more military hardware as Ukraine pushes on with its counter-offensive. The US together with the UK, Germany & France are expected to give firm assurances to Kyiv of long-term security support in the form of advanced weaponry, training and other military aid, possibly soon after the summit ends, according to insiders.

Meanwhile, UK Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden has told the BBC that China is the “Largest State-based Threat to Britain’s economic security.” The ministers comments come on the back of Data released revealing that the government have had to intervene in eight attempted takeovers of UK firms by China more than any other country.

While on the subject of China speculation is mounting as to the whereabouts of China´s foreign minister Qin Gang after his department announced that the minister would not be attending the ASEAN Foreign Ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)  scheduled for this coming Friday (14th July 2023) however China were scheduled to meet tomorrow before the summit.
“State Councillor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang cannot attend this ASEAN ministerial meeting because of health reasons,” according to Reuters. However, his absence has not gone unnoticed and speculation across the News wires is rife.
