The World Economic Forum Growth Summit 2023, taking place 2-3 May in Geneva, comes at a time of economic uncertainty, as global transformations disrupt industries, labour markets and livelihoods. Global growth is forecast to slow in 2023, and almost 1.1 billion jobs are likely to be disrupted in the coming decade. Leaders must come together to equip and empower people, businesses and governments to ensure inclusive, sustainable and resilient growth.
“We are facing a critical moment for the global economy, as the past year has accelerated trends of rising inequality, sharpening polarisation, and both threats and opportunities from technology to jobs,” said Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director, World Economic Forum. “The Growth Summit will bring together leaders to shape a new vision for inclusive growth and advance initiatives to empower people with future-ready knowledge and skills. We must shape a recovery and a future economy that works for all.”
The summit will focus on three core themes: enabling resilient growth; developing human capital; and accelerating economic equity. Sessions include spotlights on generative AI, the future of growth, creating a future-ready workforce and diversifying innovation. The public programme will be available on wef.ch/growthsummit.  Participants will advance collaboration and innovation in workplace mental health, and trade and labour markets.
The Forum will launch The Future of Jobs Report 2023 on 1 May. The report maps the jobs and skills of the future, contextualises current disruptions within larger trends, and reveals the expected outlook for technology adoption, jobs and skills in the next five years. A media briefing on the report’s findings will take place on 2 May, 14.00-14.30 CET, and will be livestreamed here.
The Forum will also reveal the latest findings of the Chief Economists Outlook on 2 May. The outlook provides insights on key economic trends, including the likelihood of recession, prospects for growth, inflation, financial contagion and supply chains, and explores likely responses from government and business.
